Expert answers the main questions about fowl typhoid
14/03/2022Avian Influenza: global outbreak requires review of processes
27/04/2022Improving the performance of poultry flocks and reducing sanitary problems necessarily involves the intestinal health of the chickens, resulting in improved competitiveness and economic viability of your business. Several strategies are used, among them the use of probiotics, a sustainable tool with good market acceptance.
The benefits of these products are already widely known by companies: they contain one or more live microorganisms that stimulate the development and maturation of the innate and local specific immune system (GALT), which is vital for defense against pathogenic microorganisms – in addition to being supportive for all immunizations in the chicken’s life.
However, for probiotics to be truly effective – that is, for the chickens’ intestines to continue performing essential functions that translate into better zootechnical and economic performance – it is not enough to administer any product on the market.
Probiotics are definitely not all equal and both the quality and quantity of the bacteria matter. That’s why, when choosing probiotics for your business, you need to consider all the differentials of a company with years of expertise in the market like Biocamp.
In today’s content, you will learn about Biocamp’s competitive differentials!
1. Complete product portfolio
Biocamp has a complete product line, with solutions for the most varied challenges of poultry production. This makes it possible to deliver customized programs to the reality and needs of each producer.
2. Market differential: probiotics with 21 bacterial strains
Biocamp is one of the few companies that contains in its portfolio probiotics composed of 21 strains, where 20 of them are lactic bacteria and one Bacillus subtilis, with a focus on performance and control of pathogenic bacteria.
These probiotics colonize the small intestine and cecum. Its use can start at the hatchery and must be continuous, via drinking water or feed. They are indicated for control of necrotic enteritis, the subtypes of Salmonella Paratyphoid and performance gain.
3. Producers – and exporters!
Biocamp has been operating for more than 20 years in the production of probiotics, always focusing on understanding the demands of the poultry market, researching products, developing solutions and presenting innovations.
Our credibility, investment in research, control and quality, in each of the stages of the production line, makes us have great coverage in the breeders, broiler and commercial layers markets. We export our probiotics throughout South America, the Caribbean and are already arriving in Africa, the Middle East and Asia.
4. Specialized service
Competent professionals with expertise in the poultry area, who know the reality of production inherent to each sector, indicate the ideal solutions for problems and challenges faced by producers. In addition, we offer after-sales technical assistance for your problem to be treated in a unique way.
5. Facilities extrapolate requirements
At Biocamp, probiotics are produced in buildings that are completely physically separate from the vaccine laboratory, but with the same technical rigor as pharmaceutical products. The facilities were built in isopanel, with rounded corners and epoxy on the floor, where the absence of scratches and cracks prevents microbial proliferation.
They not only meet the regulations of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA), but also go beyond certain requirements. Clean rooms are environments classified by the ISO system with filtration and air exchange, control over suspended particles and HEPA filters, with technology capable of eliminating 99.9% of impurities. As a differential, we still use laminar flow hood type or curtain type, which ensures total control over the processes.
Between a clean room and another room – whether it’s another room or a hallway – is an antechamber that prevents unfiltered outside air from entering. At the end of the production processes, we clean and disinfect the rooms with subsequent validation and recording of the actions taken.
Access to all these areas is restricted. All maintenance and control of electrical panels and lighting are carried out on the technical floor and people who access the production areas wear special, sterilized clothes that do not release particles. Thus, there is greater protection against possible cross-contamination.
6. Selected seeds – and safe!
The seeds, also known as master seed, are obtained through selections for probiotic characteristics, specific to each type of indication, such as:
- ability to adhere to the intestinal epithelium;
- multiplication capacity;
- production of bacteriocins;
- inhibition of pathogens, etc.
Bacteria are identified by biochemical tests, 16S gene sequencing or by MALDI-TOF. They are tested for purity, that is, for the presence of contaminants (notably bacterial or viral pathogens known to the target species).
The safety of seeds in relation to the presence of antimicrobial resistance genes is also confirmed. They are stored in liquid nitrogen and ultrafreezer, with security backup and deposited in an institution accredited by government agencies.
7. Raw materials subjected to tests
Raw materials are acquired from previously qualified suppliers. Upon receipt, we carry out a documentary analysis of the certificates and other documents. Samples are collected and sent to quality control, where they are subjected to sterility tests for bacterial growth.
8. Control on the production line
Raw materials, intermediate products and end products are tested for the absence of pathogens and contaminants. They undergo microbiological and molecular tests, weight, volume and other characteristics that are part of the Work Instruction (IT) of each product. The concentration of probiotics is verified by bacterial growth titration tests.
9. Quality assurance
In addition to quality control throughout the production line, there is a sector that is responsible for keeping all documentation, tracking each batch/lot produced, staff training and relationship with control authorities. The focus is on improving processes, which allow adherence to requirements demanded in audits, and mitigate possible non-conformities.
10. Investment in Research & Development (R&D)
Just over 2 years ago, Biocamp inaugurated a Research & Development (R&D) structure with 160 square meters, located in an independent area and with a modern biosecurity system.
The sector is the new “brain” of operations and the “heart” of the company. This is what allows Biocamp to be always involved in the launch of new products and solutions, new strains, process improvements and tests.
With a highly qualified team, R&D helps in the validation of production and quality control processes, carries out the development of techniques, processes and products, runs tests for the selection of probiotic bacteria and the efficacy of the products.
11. Certifications
Biocamp has Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) certification, with international recognition.
12. Updating and training the team
For Biocamp, updating is a constant. We participate in poultry sector events to be in tune with the most current challenges and solutions. In addition, we promote frequent training sessions with the team of professionals who work in customer service, including representatives and distributors in Brazil and Latin America.
These are 12 points that differentiate Biocamp probiotics and show that the company is genuinely concerned with customer needs. Our commitment is to deliver, with agility, solutions that can serve the entire poultry chain and bring financial and quality gains to producers.
We spare no effort to deliver the best solutions for the poultry market. For this, we carry out constant research, safety and compatibility tests to produce probiotics with an excellent level of quality and efficacy. Count on Biocamp for the development of your business!
