Brazilian poultry: what can we expect for 2023?
18/01/2023In 2022, we produced more than 20 pieces of content for the Biocamp blog, in addition to other materials that were sent exclusively to customers. We talk about current problems in Brazilian poultry industry, such as colibacillosis, and about the three distinct conditions of avian salmonellosis.
We brought articles on other critical illnesses, such as avian influenza, infectious coryza and mycoplasmosis. We address questions about traceability, rational use of antimicrobials, explain the difference between pioneer microbiota and resident microbiota — and much more.
This year, we also spoke with experts like Dr. Terezinha Knöbl, from the University of São Paulo (USP), and Dr. Angelo Berchieri Junior, from the São Paulo State University (Unesp), to solve the main doubts about colibacillosis and fowl typhoid, respectively.
Choosing the unmissable content, the one that is worth reading again thinking about the scenario that is projected for 2023, was not an easy task. That’s why we invited four technicians from Biocamp to participate in this mission. Bauer Alvarenga, Gilmei Antonio Balestrin, Nelson Haga and Teresa Ruocco Dari recommend contents to inform yourself and, obviously, to put into practice. Check them out!

Early colonization in ovo or via spray: impacts on chick quality
Why do you recommend this content?
“Throughout the life of the chickens, we have always advocated the use of probiotics to maintain the balance of the resident microbiota. However, we cannot forget that the pioneer microbiota will form the basis of the resident microbiota. By using probiotics from competitive exclusion or from multiple lactic strains still in the hatchery, via in ovo or spray, we will form the pioneer microbiota, which will contribute to the initial development of the chicks and protection against pathogenic enterobacteria.”

12 competitive differentials of Biocamp probiotics
Why do you recommend this content?
“Probiotics must add value and result in solutions and benefits for our customers. Betting on a company with a history of expertise and tradition in the production of probiotics is essential when choosing the product to be used. This, simply, means deciding on the best and safest probiotic production processes, for a more complete line of probiotics on the market and for the support and guidance of a qualified team that will help its customers with the best strategies for use during the production process of poultry, thus resulting in better production gains for its customers. This is Biocamp!”

Mycoplasmosis: which vaccine provides greater protection?
Why do you recommend this content?
“Respiratory problems continue to be a source of economic losses on farms, which take the form of syndromes where various diseases can be present on the farm. Recently, this year, we already highlighted the importance of choosing the correct vaccine for avian mycoplasmosis, which will provide better protection to the respiratory system against Mycoplasma gallisepticum and, thus, minimize other diseases that challenge the chickens of the commercial laying farms. I recommend revisiting our page on the subject, good reading!”

Rational use of antimicrobials in poultry: how to unite science with the field?
Why do you recommend this content?
“Due to the current public consultation that may consolidate the prohibition of antimicrobial growth promoters (AGP) or performance enhancers (AMD) for use in animal production, I recommend this article, because, in addition to providing important information on the rational use of antimicrobials, proposes to producers, in a practical way, a suggestion to start production without the use of AMDs in a percentage or part of the poultry farms or in just one region, reinforcing the importance of adjustments in management processes, use of effective substitutes for antimicrobials and training of the technical team so that performance results and business profitability are not compromised.”
